Hi

I have a silver shark that is a reasonable size and just now while walking past tank I saw him struggling as he was stuck in an ornament gap. We quickly tried to help him by easing him out by holding him and trying to free him. After a few minutes we managed to free him however he has lost a lot of scales and his skin is red. He is still swimming around but looks really stressed. It's late at night and no shops open and the only thing I had was stresscoat so I added some of that to help with the stress. Can anyone please help with any advice with what else I can do to help him or is it a case of he will hopefully heal naturally

Thanks for the advice

The only thing that you can do really is make sure you keep your water clean, stresscoat is the best thing you could have put in, just keep an eye on him. He will just be shocked haha! just make sure no one bullies him with him been a bit weaker!!

As Liz says, the only thing you can do is make sure your water is perfect and that none of the other fish make him worse! And remove the ornament!

Thanks for the quick reply. The tank is due it's water change tomorrow so I will do that as normal. He seems to be fine just now n swimming around. He is the biggest fish in the tank so hopefully none of the other fish can or will bully him.

Hopefully he heals fine :good:

Hi, How is your fish doing now? That happened to my female betta a while back, she recovered great - very slight scar on her back, I have to really look for it now. I did add API Melafix to help her - it helps heal open wounds and abrasions as well as other things.
