I have a 500 litre aquarium with 12 Angel fish, some corydoras, a pair of bala sharks and a pair of bristle-nose catfish. All live in harmony with the exemption of some aggression between male Angels

Ph: 7.0
Ammonia: 0
Nitrites:0
Nitrates: 40ppm

I do 10 percent water change weekly but it's aquarium is planted and parameters are pretty much the same.

I have a pair of Angels but I didn't have another tank to separate them. They were bullied a little bit but then they regressed in hiding. I have plants and they could hide but they stayed in isolation. They did not lay eggs but stayed pretty much in hiding. I did not even notice them coming out to feed.

The male one came out of hiding just now and I noticed one pop-eye and he was sideways on the top of the aquarium. He must have been sleeping. When I put the light on he tried to swim but he kept slipping sideways.

I don't have another tank to separate him and my hospital tank has corydora fry.

Any ideas please?

Here is @Colin_T’s treatment on the subject:

Pop eye can be caused by a bacterial or fungal infection or an injury (scratch).

The easiest way to treat it is with big daily water changes and gravel cleaning the substrate.

Clean the filter if it hasn't been done in the last 2 weeks.

Wipe the inside of the tank with a clean fish sponge.
----------------
You can add 1-2 heaped tablespoons of rock salt, sea salt, or swimming pool salt for every 20 litres of water. Keep the salt in there for 2 weeks.
When you do daily water changes, add salt to the new water before adding it to the tank so the salinity (salt level) remains constant.

Sideways swimming is usually caused by a swim bladder disorder. Will it eat? If so, try to feed it a pice or cut up pea. This will help.

Thanks. He hasn't been eating either. There are 2 things that I did lately. 1. feed a little bit more live worms than usual and 2. gave them live brime-shrimp. I am thinking may be I dropped some egg shells in the tank.

Thank you.

He could be bloated because of over feeding - either way, the pea will help. :)
