Please can someone help? I'm a beginner to keeping tropical Fish. I didn't fine this forum, until after I bought my fish! Both my Mum and I have started this hobby for the first, My Mum has 2 tanks, One for Adults (48ltr) and one for Fry's (28Ltr) I have 28litre.
I've been reading your beginners resource, I've tried to understand what ammonia is, But I'm having a hard time! Please can you tell me, What test to buy, how to do the cycle, Where do I get this ammonia from and how much to I put etc...Mine and the Baby tanks Nitrites are very high. I've been doing a water change, every two days like my LFS said. But they never said anything about ammonia.
I hope someone can help me please, Sorry to be a pain.

Thanks
Fish Angel

PS: I like in the UK, I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Fish shops always say dont buy ammonia, but really its the best way to do it to save sick fish and deaths.

If you really want to go through with fishless cycling, take your fish back to the shop.

First off, buy ammonia, boots sell it for £1.75 or something and is called "household ammonia"

Secondly, buy the API Freshwater Master Test Kit

Then read these threads, this one tells you the ins and outs of cycling: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=175355

And this one tells you how to do the two easiest/best methods of cycling: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=113861

If you are still stuck, feel free to reply and il try to help if i can, but whatever i cant answer, im sure someone else who is more experienced will.
