My platies have a notorious habit of hiding...under plants...in ornaments etc....and I panic....then they all appear at once...they know better now...they don't get fed if they are hiding!!!
Are there any bigger fish that could have eaten it...like big cichlids or anything?
Do you have any other animals...like cats or dogs...could the platy have jumped and been eaten by one of them?
I had a whiteskirt that jumped on me once...I saw it happen but it took us 5 minutes to find it (covered in cat hair and carpet)....that was 4 weeks ago and it is fine.
If it has been eaten (by other fish or other animal) then theres not a lot you can do...besides making sure any of your others can't jump.
