Hi Karen

Welcome Onbard

Your 28g is fineas a 1st Salt tank I will pm you some info on the equipment I use in my tank and the places I got them.

You look to be going along the right lines with you above post

Can you let us know if your based in the UK or US

Hey karen

A skimmer is recomended, in my experience you wont be able to fit a hang on one without cutting the hood, even the hang ons will need a few cuts for the in and out pipes, if you dont have a skimmer you will have to have a smaller bioload. i.e less fish and do more water changes but people have done it this way, If your in the uk you could try looking for a 2nd hand aqumedic biostar hang on which is decnt or even a prism, they arent too great but better than nothing if thats all you can afford.

Powerheads, you want to try and turn over your tank 20x an hour for the lice rock to function properly so 29x20 = 580 gallons a hour, thats usually 2 to 3 depending on the models you go for.

Lighting if you want corals and to keep your hood then you need to go for regular T5's or t5 power compacts its hard to suggest something without knowing which country you are from, id aim for atleast 100 watts which can be done via 2 t5 powercompacts 55 watts each.
