Hi,

We have in our house 2 goldfish which we have had for nearly a year now, we keep them in a bowl, water filled only to the widest point of the bowl, plants and we have an air pump too.

The problem we have is that when ever we feed them (once a day and just few flakes) one of the fish becomes very bloated and try as it may to swim to the bottom it just can't, it just floats straight back to the surface, sometimes she will roll over like she is about to die other times she will just float at the top by the edge breathing very quickly.

The other fish seems fine all the time, should we be doing anything or are we doing anything wrong ?

Any help appreciated.

Simon

ermm yes you are
first of all only feed goldfish every two days
secondly you need 20 gallons for the first
goldfish and 10 for each additional fish
please read this pinned topic on goldfish

Sounds like your fish has an internal problem or Swim Bladder of constipation. Try to feed a varied diet of frozen/live foods like bloodworms with the flakes, cooked and shelled peas can also be good. :)
