Help Needed To Id Catfish Plz!

Hi can anyone help me id this catfish was told it was a syno/upside down catfish. can you tell me how big this will grow and if there is any aggression, will it eat any fish.
This fish is nocturnal

Thats your typial synodontis eupterus or the "featherfin syno".

Not a synodontis nigriventris or "upside-down cat"

It grows to about 8", and will eat things that fit in it's mouth.

i bought this fish about 1 month ago and is obviously going to outgrow my 2 foot tank. i would like to take it back to pet shop, but they say its an upside down catfish and it doesnt grow any bigger tan about 4inches. what could i do to prove to them that its the species yu said and that it will grow bigger and eat my other small fish?? i bought it for £7.99

It's not an aggressive fish as such, but if the "offer" is there, it will take it.

Write down both names from here, and go into the shop.
No doubt they'll sell various books, see if theres a catfish book at all, and point out their "mistake" in front of them.

how can you tell that it is some species while looking on google its difficult cause i can see one picture of eac that kind of look like it. is there any distinguishing things that seperate the two.

like marrkings or the fact its nocturnal and very shy etc

Just google synodontis eupterus it's pretty obvious what it is.Then google synodontis nigriventris and note a completely different fish.And the fact your fish will hardly ever (if at all) swim upside-down.

Your feather-fin syno

thanks very much, catfish is back to shop. had to tell them the difference now they are changing signs etc lol
