Hi - I made the mistake of putting in my fish before the tank was cycled (mainly, I admit due to lack of reserch) but its happened now and now I want to keep them alive.
The water turned cloudy after a day of the fish being stocked. - I posted a question on this forum about it and got told to do 20-25% water changes everyday until the water turned back to normal.
Well, its normal again now and its only been two days of water changes so should I carry on doing daily water changes or should I just go down to two a week or something similar???

Any help would be appreicated.

THANKS

hi have you got a test kit ?? if you have test the water regular until your tank has fully cycled & i think really you need to keep up with at least doing water changes every 2 days as the fish in there will cause the ammonia to rise.
i'm sure someone else will come along soon & explain it better for you hth

Thanks for the advice

I've got a test kit coming on Monday/Tuesday. I'll do water changes everyday until I know its fully cycled.
Does anyone know how long it takes to cycle with the fish in there???

i did the same thing with my 13 uk gallon tank & it took about 6 weeks to fully cycle, thats why i never cycle with fish now as its bloody hard work doing water changes everyday lol. also now i've got a 55 & 60 gal that are being cycled. good luck with it all thou :D

When i cycled my tank with 6 zebra danios in, i did a small water change every day, and tested the water with a master kit.

What size tank do you have, and what fish are in there?

C x :*

Its a 54 litre rectangle tank that currently holds 1 Simease Fighting Fish and 3 Head and Tail Tetras.
I'm happy because the fish are looking OK, now of them have died and are hardly showing any signs of new tank symdrome - I will continue to do the daily water changes until my test kit shows that the tank is cycled.

Thanks for all your help! :hey:

As long as you keep up with the water changes you should be fine as the ammonia and nitrites will not build up to a great level. But it will if you don't keep up with the changes! At the end you'll be sick of water changes but it's well worth it :)
