hi everybody,

i have a batch of corydora eggs that are now hatching in my fry tank. i havent a clue about what to do!

when i setup the tank i put a small filter in and covered the bottom half up with stones so that no fry would get sucked in,and its on its lowest setting. there is a very small current in the tank, just enough to circulate the water past the heater.i also put in 2 airstones attached to 1 airline to help oxygenate the water.

i know they dont need feeding for 2-3 days because they have the embryo sack? when they hatch........

what do i feed them? i have frozen micro blood worms, could i mince them up and feed them that or shall i feed something else?

any other help, hints tips and suggestions are welcomed with open arms :good:

many thanks in advance!

These fry are very small and need small food that can fit in their tiny mouths. There are some prepared/ready made fry foods available - Liquifry for egg layers is a good starter food containing micro particles that the fry can eat while very small.

When they hatch they will have an egg sack still attached filled with yolk - This means they dont need to feed for the first 3 days. During this time any food added to the water will simply spoil the water.

After the fry have been feeding for around 5 to 6 days they may be ready to eat newly hatched brine shrimp - literally 'just hatched' shrimp. any older and they will be too big for the fishies to eat and will have lost some of their nutrient content. Best start hatching soon to ensure a supply is ready.

Congrats with the fry

thank you saz,

when you say '' better start hatching '' do you mean i have to buy brine shrimp eggs?or can i buy hatched bbs from my lfs?

Hi plecostomus-mad :)

Since you have two threads on the same subject I will close this one and let all the answers get made on the other. I'll post on there too. :D
