hi all i must be quick i really need help. my guppy has given birth i put her in the breeding trap 5 hours ago. i have just found a baby. but wheres the rest i can see more in her but 1 hour later theres still no more im worried shes gonna eat it. dont they give birth to the lot at once or is it a slow process. and when should i remove the mother :hyper:

They don't pop out the whole lot at once,it could take 5 hours to a whole day. Remove her when she looks much thinner and her round belly is gone and her dark gravid spot is virtually gone. If you have a piece of plant or something to put in the breeder net to help the babies hide while she has them it will reduce the munching she might do. :)

I agree with heather. I've had females have them by the fours, while another female would only have 1 baby every ten minutes. It depends on how comfortable and relaxed your female is. After leaving one of my female in the trap for 4 hrs and she only had around 8 fry and she still looked fat, I put her back in the main tank where she felt more comfortable and bam! She started haivng them again. But make sure you have places for them to hide if your gonna do that and be ready with that turkey baster

It's probably just stress. You put her in far too close to the drop date, so taht one fry might either have been dropped too early or on time. She might have eaten the others, so just add some decorations if you can.

thank you for all your help. no more babiestoday though . i have added plants and got 2 more breeding traps. for more of my guppys to give birth. the baby is doing fine :D :hyper:
