Hi all I'm hoping you will be able to help, ive noticed that my Blue Bosmani rainbow fish is having trouble to stay balanced, he / she is currently in more of a vertical position with the tail end almost pointing fully to the ground, when other fish go near him he appears to go back to a normal swimming position dashes away and when back in "resting / Meandering mode" goes back to this almost vertical position. I'm not too sure if this is an illness or old age ?? I'm not too sure on the age as i "acquired" this fish about 9 months ago from some one he is approx 2.5 / 3 inch big, no obvious signs of extern damage or discoloration does seem a little thinner than he was and not a bright and vibrant coloration as normal. I have also noticed that he is having to "swim" constantly otherwise arrears to fall to the bottom of the tank and his mouth is constantly opening and closing. Ive tested all the stats, (ammo 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 10) all other fish looking and acting well.

has any one any ideas on what could be wrong or ways to help him ? I have relocated him to a "hospital come fry" tank where there are about 20 kribs but all the size of 10-MM in size.

Many thanks Scott.

Could you provide a photo of the fish? It could be a small case of bloat, which can cause some problems with swimming, what do you feed your fish?

Thanks for the info & link wilder, ive dug out one of my older 60l tanks and a fluval 2 and heater and got him fully isolated now, will use a smaller 5G tub for the epsom baths and will get some internal bacteria meds as some of the things you have mentioned "thin, sunken in belly, white/ mucus poo" have been noticable

Thanks for your help hopefully all will go well.
