Guys, I have run into a problem for the first time with one of my spawns. They are just 3-4 weeks right now, and I have some of the fry that are so large they are trying to eat the rest of the fry. They are too young to jar, and I don't want to start seperating them this early. I thought about moving them to another tank, but they just seem a little young to do this. It is utterly ridiculous how much the difference is, and I am just amazed. So, temporarily I have taken a breeding trap for guppies and placed a few of the largest ones in there. The littliest fry can still swim in and out of there, but most can't. The thing is once the small fry is in there, they have to try to get out or they get chased. They aren't in a very large area to be confined together and I'm worried about scuffles breaking out, so I don't want to keep them in that trap much longer. Anyone have any ideas that would help out the situation? Thanks.

Also, how does everyone split the fry from the largest half, and the smallest half. My turkey baster(s) just don't work and the fry are so fast and fight to get out of the baster and current I couldn't use this to grab the largest ones. Then I tried a net, no better luck but I got big and small. Then I tried a large air line tubing and just took everyone out. So, how do we seperate the big ones from the little ones when they are still fragile and young?

You have to split them up the babies and catch them with a small nylon fish net. They are very fine and hold the shape net pretty well. I do catch the big one and put them with the same size babies in a 10 gallon tank. It took few hours to do that. I leave the small one in the same original tank. I think I bought my nylon fish net from petco or petland. :D
