Hi
My new external filter isnt working properly help me!! Has anyone gor the same filter who can advise me please, i cant get the siponing going.. Is there a certain way to do this?

Not used your specific filter, but try filling it 2/3rds full with tank water and then setting it going. Rock it around when your siphoning as well.

Also make sure it sealed completely. Check all joins on your pipework to make sure they're airtight.

I have the 1200 and my primer is stuck down.

I have to fill the sealed canister up full with tank water through the inlet tube to get it running.

Hmm.. so do i need to fill the canister with tank water/dechl water (by opening the lid etc) and then try again?

Yeah it needs full of water to run. So fill up and close canister. Also get some water into the inlet pipe which will top up the canister.

I use a 50ml catheter syringe to help with that job. A jug would probably work as well. As already said you may have to give the canister a good shake to get rid of air bubbles.

Hope that works

edit also the canister should be below the bottom of the tank

I've tried and tried and its still not working! :( I am getting really fustrated and jus feel like selling the filter already! Its really annoyed me spent all morning trying :(
And now
Now My backs hurting!!!

You could try the old fashioned approach

Empty all the water out of all hoses and the filter, place inlet in water, give the outlet tube a good suck and let gravity do the rest.

Wait till it fills then turn it on.

I had a Fluval 304 that I had to start like this, the priming function was awful, never used a Fluval external since.
Can't beat the Eheim Classics though just a case of turning the taps back on in the right order and the empty filter fills up.

not familiar with the filter but has it got an on/off tap or lever that hasnt been opened?

Its really annoying (and it says 'easy start function' )
Right I am going to go though it again make sure everything is connected as it should be and try again.. Also Do i need to cut the length of the hose pipe?

Its got a lever for the intake/outtake hose and does hav a lever saying open/close.. I am sure its in the right position.. Very annoying as it says 'easy start function'
Gonna take a deep breath and try again...

Well as I say, if all the taps are open sucking on the outlet tube is a sure way to get the filter full and the water flowing.

Tube length isn't that important, ideally you only want them as long as they need to be, so the filter isn't working harder than it needs to but at the end of the day the filter can pump water much further than the length of the tubes. However, you will get a better flow rate with shorter tubes.

what happens when you plug it in and turn it on? the easy start on the eheim does it all for you.

When you say sucking on the outlet tube do you mean the spray bar tube? And how should i exactly do that?
Thanks

start from the begining, When all conected up and the lever in open and you pump the primer what happens?

When I plug it in it just makes a werid low noise like maybe air trapped or something, and when i press the "start button" it jus sounds like its bring/sucking the water but doesnt go through the pipe.. Its supposed to be "easy start function" as it says on th box but its far from that..
