My new tank has just arrived. It is a bit off the level and the whole lot is rocking very slightly. Its sitting on a solid wooden floor. How do I get it well supported to stop the rocking. I'm worried about using packers as it will leave a slight gap under the unit all around. Please help

Are my topics on ignore or something?

you only waited an hour......give people a chance ;)

Sorry. I was just hoping to make a start on it today but I'm not sure the best way to deal with this. Would I be best adding foam to the underside of the cabinet? Maybe around 3 mm thick to help level it out?

Get wood shims sold for door & window installation. Level the stand to the floor with the shims, score & snap off the excess shim. Foam is OK for padding a tank that is not designed with a floating base, it's way too compressible for any sort of solid leveling.

Thanks for your response Tolak. Would I need shims under every part? Obviously the size will vary I'm just worried that if I put a shim under one corner there will inevitably be parts of the unit that don't touch the floor, albeit only by 1mm or so. Will this matter? I would have thought foam of some sort would allow it to compress so that the whole load was carried over the floor????

Just shim the parts that aren't touching enough to make them solid to the floor, not enough to raise them higher, as this will cause other legs to raise. In many ways it's like adjusting the screw in levelers provided with appliances, you adjust them to contact the floor firmly when leveling, nothing more.

I just can't get this sitting solid at all. Im terrified of filling it up now and really don't know what to do. If the guys delivering hadn't said anything I would probably just have filled it up anyway, who knows, it might be fine :shout:

If you press down on one corner by how much do other corners come off the ground, i.e how 'un-level' is it? Is the stand new and have you assembled it yourself?

There wasn't much in it at all. It's just the guys who delivered it made me a bit paranoid. They certainly know what they are talking about but possibly are over cautious.

It filled now amyway and all is well
