Help N03 Low

Hi

I was doin my normal checks that i do every couple of weeks, and my N03 Nitrite came back as 10ppm. They should be 20ppm shouldn't they?
I also lost a male platy today i found him floating on top of the water, and i also lost a zebra, well i say lost i had to kull it coz it has gloat. But all my other fish seem fine to me.

What i want to know is, is my nitrite killing my fish?
Also I just bought an external filter (Fluval 205) But i have left my old internal in so i can't see it being anything to do with that.

The other stats where PH-7.0 NH3-0ppm N02-0ppm

Does anyone have any thoughts of advise?

low nitrates is a good thing!!

but i think your getting nitrite and nitrate confused, nitrite should be 0 and nitrate should be below 40ppm

well are you talking about nitrate or nitrite? when you tested? because you said NO3 nitrite

NO3 is nitrate NO2 is nitrite
