Help! My Gourami Is Dying!

Happened to my dwarf male 2 weeks ago I personally think its dwarf gourami decease mine got darker could bearly swim and gained a lump on one side of his body then died within 24 hours altho I still have a female dwarf that is unaffected so I could be wrong

Thank you. But what I've found from www was saying that the dwarf gourami disease normally develops over years...

but I just had mine for only 1 month.... And he was jumping up and down two days ago, now he is dying? not sure if this disease cam actually develop so quickly..

How long have you been having yours? How old were they?

I had mine 6 weeks and no other fish in my tank is sick

Others fish in my tank looks perfect too.
seems like mine is getting Dwarf gourami disease...

I will wait for another day to see if he is getting better, otherwise I will put him down :(

Dwarf Gouramis are frustrating. I had one (Powder Blue) for the past 18 months. He got sick a couple of times, and got really emaciated once. I brought him back from the brink both times, only to have him die suddenly last week.

Sorry to hear that.

This time what happened to mine seems like a uncurable disease, which is really frustrating...

I've had two gouramis die out of the blue in my tanks with perfect water conditions. No other fish in the tank showed any symptoms at all or signs of sickness. I thought I just had bad luck with gouramis. My angel, bolivian rams, and all livebearers are happy and reproducing like crazy. Both gouramis didn't show any symptoms of sickness, I just found them dead the next morning!

Whenever I'm at the fish store too all the gouramis seem lifeless and sick, most laying at the bottom of the tanks.

Sorry to hear about your gourami, so hard to watch it suffer :(

Hi There

Definitely sounds like dwarf gourami disease. I have had 3 go by it over the past 2 months, nay at the same time either. Unfortunately there is no cure and the end is inevitable I am afraid.

The disease is a genetic disease as the dwarf gouramis have been heavily in bred and have a very weak immune system.

I won't be buying any more DG's because there is absolutely nothing you can do and as you have seen, they can go from being active, happy little fish to incredibly ill in no time at all.

Hope yours pulls through.
