My friend has got 4 glass catfish and a ruby shark in his tank.he feeds them pellets and flake food but he said he never seen them eating unless they come out at night.the catfish are always hiding and the shark just roams around the place.

whats the best thing to do ?

So you are saying that the fish only eat at night?

The catfish are more active at night, as they hide in the shadows during the day.

ok, glass catfish prefer food such as brine shrimp, blood worms, and blackworms, they also really should be in a bigger group, at least 6-8! It may be that the shark is not allowing the fish to get any food in the day, however, i think the diet is the main issue. They would be more likey to eat the above mentioned food over flakes and probably eat at night once the food has soften and decomposed a bit.

But im sure there are some more experienced keepers of these fish on here that can give you some more info!

ok,thanks guys, the fish seem happy and the shark doesnt bother the other fish at al.the catfish only come out now and then but most of the time they hide.il tell him to try bloodworms.

is it best to feed them when you turn the light out at night ?

You can feed the catfish, algae discs.

Just throw a couple of them in there before lights out.

My catfish are really comfortable with their surroundings in my tank, and come out a lot during the day.

So maybe after some time your friends catfish will do the same?

yer, id put a bit of food in mainly for the shark in the day and then a bit at night. If he does this, tell him to invest in a snail or 2 depending on the size of the tank as they will not harm the fish and will act as a clean up crew!

ok,he hasnt had the catfish that long maybe it will take time.il let him know the info. thanks
