I just purchased 3 new neon tetras from a LFS and added them to my 10 gallon tank today. I previously had 2 neon tetras in my 10 gallon. These 2 neons have now lost most of their red in their lower body/tail area. I also have large marbles (glass stones) on the bottom of the tank. They continually swim to the marble and kind of run into it and fly across the other side of the tank, then come back and do it again. What should I do? I know I should quarantine them but I have no where to put them. Please help me! :-(

NTD is highly contagious and incurable, euthinise the fish now.

Sadly, The Wolf is right. If they have NTD, they have to go. The sooner the better.

I don't think that sounds like NTD -_- The loss of color generally starts on the head and then spreads to the body.

Here's a link on NTD.

With the fish rubbing on the marbles it sounds like a parasite to me. Get a medication such as Malachite Green that will treat parasites.

I just checked my two tetras today and they seem to be re-gaining color. I was told they might have just lost color due to stress from adding the other neons. :D I am so glad they are okay. :fun:

Thank goodness I have had NTD and it's awful.
