Hi guys,

After having my cories in my tank, I recently realised the goldening of the gills on both of my cories. They are not showing any symptoms of discomfort. I was supposed to have the julii, but I think I might've gotten the false one according to some people.

I can't provide any picture atm since my cam is broken :/

What do you think :S?

This happens to my Corydoras Sterbai alot. and nothing has gone wrong with him. Most fishes gills tend to change colour during breeding seasons. Corydoras are extremely hardy and can tolerate a variety of water conditions except salt. :good: :good: :good:

Considering the tank is newly set up,i would say its ammonia/nitrite poisoning its very noticable on fish when their gills are burning, have you got a test kit yet?

I would do a very large waterchange asap...

Ammonia poisoning is supposed to be about red/brown/purple colouration. Mine's really light yellow, similar to gold :S. Mine hasn't completed the normal 6 weeks+ cycle. Mine's been set up for 3 weeks.

Nitrite poisoning will show has brown colour variations on the gills, nitrite poisoning stops the red blood cells from transporting oxygen hence the dicolouration...

Can you get to the lfs and get your water tested,if not i'd advise a w/c.
