Ok. I got home and the carpet's soaked. I've put all my fish into giant tuppawear thingy so they're fine. :(

I need to know how to find the leak. how to fix it. Has it happened to you. just any good advice basically. :look:

So far, I've taken everything out of tank and have put it on the floor on newspaper. I'm filling it with water, so if it dribbles, I can see where from. I've bought aquarium glue.

Basically, i'm a girl, :*) I don't know about this stuff. If I can't see where it's leaking from, what do I do?

If anyone's done this before or if you've got any ideas, it really would be greatly appreciated. :D

Also, my tanks only about 7 months old - I bought it brand new. why would have this happened already. :dunno:

Ok. thanks heaps for any advice!

its easy.. just place news paper all over the tank side to see where the paper gets wet.. then mark is with something....

Clean the tank in that are very nicely, making sure there is nothing grease or some algae or anything, the apply silicone sealer on the INSIDE of the tank where you saw the leak..

once dried try again for a leak, if there is leak again you might need to remove all the silicone in the side where the leak is and reglue the whole side..
Also dont glue the outside of the tank.. I have tried that but only worked for 2-3 months, I placed from silicone on the inside, tada all fine.

Also what size tank is it mine was a 30Gal,

That is the approach I would use as well. You don't need to use a lot of the silicone sealant, but you should clean the glass well before applying it. Filling the tank after you have applied it will force the sealant into any cavities. In an emergency, I have "sealed" a leaking stocked tank, although I would avoid doing so, the curing process liberates some acid which if the water is poorly bufferd can drop the pH.

However, if the tank is relatively new, I would of thought it would have some kind of warranty on it. As long as you have installed it correctly and not done anything weird, I'd be talking to the place where I got it. You may want to ask them before you start trying to fix it yourself.

Good luck.

yeah,I would seal it like that and then definitely
find out about the warranty--theres no way a tank that new should leak.
