Perhaps just writing this down will help me make sense of it, but basically I have lots of fish, lots of tanks, and I want to move them around so everyone's happy!
Sadly my dwarf gouramis both succumbed to internal bacteria a while back, and it looks very much like two platies are also on their last legs. It could be age as I've had them almost a year, however I've treated the tank to stop anything spreading. but unfortunately I don't have any space for my QT tank as we got a dog and all surfaces are fair game to him!
My tanks at the moment:
200l - 6 botia histrionica (I think! They were sold as yoyos but I suspect they aren't), 12 cardinal tetra, 7 five-banded barbs, five zebra danios, one kribensis and one bristlenose plec. There are also five platies, at least two of which are looking peaky.
125l - Two angels, 6 peppered cories, 10 rummynose tetra, one clown plec, a few guppies and platies. One angel in particular is getting extremely big and I want to move him or her into the larger tank. The two fight occasionally, not constantly at this stage, but I wouldn't be averse to separating them.
65l - Guppies & platies (females), 7 dwarf cories, one small blue phantom plec.
Nano (15 or 20l?) tank with one betta.
I also have a spare 20l shrimp tank which I had to empty the inhabitants into the 65l, so that it wouldn't get smashed by Mr Dog.
My plan, once the platies have passed on and the tank is showing no sign of ill health or disease, is to move the larger angel and the blue phantom plec into the 200l tank, move the guppies and platies from the 65l into the 125 and 200l (male guppies and female platies in one and vice versa!), the dwarf cories in with the betta, and the krib into the 65l as she likes to munch on long, flowing fins (but is absolutely fine with all of her current tankmates). I might put the barbs or the cardinals in with her as neither of them seem to make the most of the space in the 200l. However, nothing is decided yet.
I'm not interested in upping numbers of anything I have, in particular the danios which started as a group of 8 or 9 but have tried to find ever more ingenious ways to commit suicide, throwing themselves out of the tank, getting stuck behind or under things and one even managed to get stuck on the brace, directly under the light. We didn't find her for days. That smelled BAD.
The 200l in particular is looking a little empty after the demise of it's former inhabitants; I am not going to rush out and buy fish until everyone is established and OK in their new homes, but are there any suggestions for fish which would get on with any of the tankmates above? I like to have the option to move them around if I need to.
What would you do with the current tanks?
