Hi guys and gals, i brought an L128 plec about 2 weeks ago now, she seems settled in and has cleaned the rocks of anything that was stuck to them but she will not eat any type of fish food, I have tried bloodworm, cat fish tabs, algee wafers, cucumber, any ideas????

I asked the LFS what she was fed while they had her and they advised catfish pellets, as above ive already tried them to no suck-cess (hehe)

any ideas, or has anyone else experienced the same problems with the L128? :(

pu her in a breeding basket and that should do the trick. try to feed her live food a few times a day.

My pleco's not L128...looked him up, must be beautiful.

However, I had a prob. where mine wouldn't eat for about two months. Had me real scared. :| Now, he had just fought off an external bacterial problem, and then developed other symptoms, so I had reason to think the same had become internal. Pimafix seemed to do the trick. Don't want you to jump to this, but thought I'd mention it, just in case.

If you could list your tank size, filtration, inhabitants, water parameters, anything else, it might be helpful.
It could be that your problem is due somehow to his being new...

Have you tried Algae Discs? I'm not sure if this is the same as your waffers, but thats the only thing my pleco will eat besides natural algae that he cleans the tank well of.

my tank is a 30gal long, all parameters are fine, filtration i have a fluval3 plus and the tank has been fully cycled, the waffers are the same as the discs and she about 3inch so not enough room in the breeding trap for her,

any other ideas, how long would you say it takes a new fish to settle, could this be the case?

Have you tried boiling the cucumber? I sometimes do this to cucumber and zucchini/courgette or I just leave it in the water until it softens up.

I really wouldnt worry about him too much, but put the pellets in at night, just before you switch the room lights off so he doesnt have to fight the other fish for it.

Good luck :)

Ken
