I saw it at a pet store a long time ago and i always wanted some of them. It looks like a catfish with 6(i think) long barbells. Its coloring is a light tan with dark spots all over it. It looks like leopard skin. Any ideas would be very helpfull. Thanks

if the barbells were on its nose.. it coulda been a bristlenose pleco.

Tough to say because from your description, there are so many possibilities. Two that come to mind first are synodontis decorus or a pimeloidella (sp?) cat, even though these two cats really look nothing alike. Any other bits of info you might be able to remember may help here...

One other peice of information that i remember is that they're bodies looked similar to columbian sharks. A long sleek and powerfull looking body. The ones i saw were about 3 inches long, but they probalby get alot bigger.

With long whiskers the fish is likely to be either one of the Pimelodidae species or one of the Bagridae species but without a picture or very accurate description further identification is almost impossible.
I suggest going to planet catfish http://www.planetcatfish.com/core/ and searching through the catelog to see if you can identify the species.
