hello everyone. hoping you can help me ID these 2 shrimp i bought on Sunday.

i have always wanted shrimp that were slightly larger and set my mind on bamboo shrimp a few ago. i called around locally, but no store had anything other than the normal ghost shrimp etc. so i went to a fish store in Buffalo on the recommendation of a friend to check the place out. i called on thursday to confirm that they had some in stock and was assured that there will still be some available on sunday.

the store had 3 left when i was there; 2 greyish/blue, 1 brown.

i bought the 2 grey/blue ones. one was larger than the other.

here's the bit that's got me confused. within a hour of sticking them both in my tank, the larger one turned brown. see pics below, they were both the same color (as the smaller one) when i saw them at the LFS and when i brought them home.

now i'm also being told that the smaller one is NOT a bamboo/singapore flower shrimp.

can anyone help me properly identify them?

They're both Atyid shrimp, that's for sure. Care is the same. I've seen others that have that greyish species as well. No clue what it actually is though.

Bamboo shrimp are known to change colors a lot.

Yeah the bottom one is a wood shrimp the other one is sometimes called a lace shrimp, they can change colour, scientific name Atyoida Philipes feeds in the same way as the wood shrimp they stay smaller than wood shrimp though. Very nice shrimp they are.

so here's another question reagrding the bamboo shrimp, how many diff anmes has it got?

singapore flower shrimp? flower shrimp? singapore shrimp? wood shrimp? what else?

i feel cheated.

all 3 were listed (written on the tank) as flower shrimp. they were the only things in that tank except for a few small platies.

looks like the bottom is a bamboo shrimp not sure of the other
