Help me choose another fish for my tank

I have a 55 gallon tank wiht a red fin shark, 4 tiger barbs and a peacock eel. I want to get 4 clown loaches. What else can i get? I will be willing to buy a larger tank in a few years if necessary.

More tiger barbs. To minimize aggression, you should have AT LEAST 6 tiger barbs. The more, the better.

I am not very familiar with the other fish though.

If you want loaches it is likely that you will need a bigger tank in a few years but as you said it's ok then go for it.

What other sort of fish do you like? There are many you can get but at the same time there are many you can't because of the nature of tiger barbs. How about rainbow fish? They are cool, colourful and active.

I'm looking for something brightly colored or unusual looking. It would also be nice to have a surface dweller as everythign i have is either a bottom dweller or mid dweller. Although really i'm looking for somethign that will make people say "wow"

How about a purple spotted gudgeon?

They dwell whatever level of the tank you are looking at

I might think about getting a kissing gourami. Is it allright to have just one?

I"ve decided that i'm looking for some kind of large fish that doesn't need any friends. Slow swimming would also be a plus.
