Just unpacked my new eheim 2126, read the instructions and I still haven't got a bloody clue :/ I understand how to fill with the different types of media, but thats about it!

Idon't think the instructions are very helpful because they number the parts, but don't show any pictures or have numbers acually on the parts. So I don't know what is what? Also how far do the pipes need to be inside the tank? It doesn't tell me and no pictures!

Has anyone got a step by step quide? I really am feeling like the dumbest person in the world right now :-(

Thanks Mark! That really helped! Think I get it now, although finding it tricky to put the spray bar in the tank without kinking the pipes. I have an Evasion tank and it has rounded openings at the back for pipes and cables. Therefore the pipes are not sitting flush.

Glad i could help.. not sure about the pipe kinking tho :(
Hopefully somebody else can advise you on how to sort it..

If you mean the pipe is collapsing, then thats a very, very bad thing
If you are needing to get a pipe round a tight radius, then you may fare better with 90 degree elbows (B&Q do them, if not the LFS)

Could you not use "sheperds crook" type of fittings ?

Just checked my 2126, it has a sheperds crook fitting on the ends of the pipes?
They are pretty solid and should'nt kink?
Or have i got where you say they are kinking totally wrong :(

Sorted the pipes thanks! Now have a new problemo!!! Set everything up, pushed to prime, plugged in filter and nothing!!! My boyfriend is an electrician and has checked the fuses and they are fine. Does this filter have a safety shut off or something? Heater is working, but nothing is happening with the filter. I'm stumped

Can only sugest you try unplugging from the mains and try priming it again them plug it in?
Is there any water in the hoses?

WHAT A F-ING NIGHTMARE TODAY HAS BEEN!!! There was me thinking I'm being thick and when I take the filter back to the shop I find out it is missing a propeller! So shop owner removes one from another eheim and plugs it in to show me there is power. Bring it home all is working fine and then I realise there is water coming out!!!!!!!! :shout:

Seems to be that the seals are knackered! GREAT! He did tell me that it had been dropped, but assured me all broken parts had been replaced. I feel like such an idiot now because it's taken me all day to set up and it's going to have to go back. The shop is shut now and I know he hasn't got any more 2126's to replace it with. That means i'm going to have to wait for a replacement. Want to just give it all back and go elsewhere, but the media is already in the canister and the pipes are all set up and the tank is going nowhere now it's full.

I'm not a happy bunny!!!! I thought this hobby reduced stress?

if it helps any i moved mine to another tank on thursday and put the inlet on the outlet and vise versa

ive set that filter up hundreds of times and i go and do somthing like that

It does reduce stress Honest!!!
But it only reduces stress after the stress of setting it up :)
Tiss not your fault it was dropped and they decided it was ok even without testing it...
Hopefully you wont have to wait THAT long before it gets sorted... mind you i think it is wrong that you cant take it back.. there is no way you could have tried it without putting the media in etc?
if you brought a car n put petrol in it you would still be able to return it if it wasnt what it should be ie: working..
I hope you get it sorted asap...

Ta Mark! I'm hoping I can take it back. Will phone the shop first thing. It will just be such a hassle! I'm going to sugest that he orders another one in and then we just swap the canister including filter top. I have cut the pipes to fit my tank, so I can't see much point in giving them back.

Sulking now. Tank is going to take weeks to cycle and now that will be put back a week or two.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :grr:

:( nevermind will all be worth it in the end..
Please post again tomorrow or whenever you take it back to let me know how ya get on...

Cheers

UPDATE: Shop are ordering another 2126 and I will swap the bits I need. Luckily they were helpful and didn't cause a fuss! Nice to know I can leave all the pipes connected and hopefully plug and play when the new one comes in on Friday. Will the water be ok sat in the tank for a week? Nothing else in there apart from sand and tap water. Should be ok shouldn't it?
