this is a very strange thing every time i put my hand in my fish tank it give me a little sock i have no clue why this has just started happening now and also the power has been on and off all night so mabe it messed up my heater and need advice asap and i know lots of members here can give advise ps i was cleaning it i took about 5 gallons out i have a submersiable heater which might be doing it plz give suggestion if u got any

i would take out the submersible heater. sounds like you may have a crack in the housing and water is getting into it. i had a heater do this once. got quite a shock. did not seem to affect the fish. would still remove it and check for cracks or breaks

I would quickly replace it- I had mine break before (plus the filter) I don't know which one killed my prized ram but I'm sure one of the did, so get a new one pretty damn quick!

Turn off the power to the heater and remove it immediately. You have been lucky up to now but that could have been much worse. If you are even doubtful as to whether the heater is water tight - replace it with a new one. If you have a submersible pump, remove that too and check the seals.

You should never put your hands into the tank water with the pump/heater switched on anyway. Switch them off at the mains first. Don't know how old you are keeper-of-fish and I know we all do it and largely get away with it but this is definately a case of do as i say and not as i do.

I would try each and every plug in that goes to my fish tank. I had one to do me that way and it turned out to be my light that was causing the shock. I tested mine one at a time to see I started with the heater first. then the powerhead and all that stuff.

thanx for the help guys i dunno i got my tank cleaned and i dunno it seems ok its not shocking me anymore i think im gonna replace my heater with a better one tho cuz i read some reviews on it and people are saying it suck so i dunno i guess i buy a more expensive one for my one saftey and it is very unacurate also lol
