Hi, I bought 3 corys last week, sold as sterbai. However, I've had a look on planet catfish, and am sure they aren't! I can't see anything else on planet catfish that looks the same, but there are so many pics I could be missing them.
Could anyone help me identify them?
The are speckled like julii cory, but the last third of them is solid colour -the colour of the speckles. The background is silvery, the speckles look almost a very dark navy blue/grey colour. Behind the gills, there is a small patch with a definite emerald-green metalic shine to it.
At the moment, they are tiny -the largest is nearly 2cm at most (half-an-inch) the 2 smaller ones are about a quarter of an inch. They seem to have overy-large barbels, but am not sure if this is just becuase they are so small.
I can't post any pictures of them, which makes things more difficult, but any help would be hugely appreciated!

Hi annka5 :)

The fish most frequently labeled as C. sterbai by mistake is the C. haroldschultzi, but this doesn't sound like that at all.

It's very hard to identify a cory without pictures, but could what you have be C. similis?

It's often hard to judge the color of corys by pictures, so while this doesn't completely fit your description, I thought it would be someplace to start. Does your cory have a rounded nose, like this one, or is it pointed? I have this fish and the color in front of the tail definitely looks blue to me.

Thanks for your help! I'm pretty sure they're similis, with the photo /aquarium lights making the colour look slightly different. Thanks for that.
