Help! i am a new aquarium junkie and i've only just realised my fish have ich, i had 3 parrot fish but found the small (my favourite one) dead this morning, i have just added white spot plus medication but is there anything else i can do, my medium size parrot is just lying on the bottom looking very unhappy my large parrot is not showing any white spots yet but does have the syptoms, is there anything i can feed the fish to eradicate this parasite, please help i am gutted that my fish are so ill, :(
Thankyou Paul

Whats the temperature of you tank, if you can get it to around 82-83 that'll help as ich can't survive in those temperatures. Also ask around I'm not sure if parrot fish are salt tolerant, but small amounts of salt in the water will help (don't add salt if you have plecos or cories in the tank).

Also keep water conditions as good as you can, probably worth doing a large water change then more frequent smaller ones as ich is usually caused by stress or bad water conditions.

No worries, ich is treatable.

Sorry bout your favourite one dying though. Just keep water clean, plenty of water changes, use medicine if you want to, or just add salt and increase temperature as Lithril suggested.

Keep us posted!

P.T.

Raise the temp to about 82* Gradually not all at one time, add aquarium salt, Remove Carbon from your filter, and treat with Cupramine. I have had ich ,many times and i find that this medication works the best, the fastest and with the least side effects. Good Luck
