I have a male betta in a 10 litre tank i do 50% water changes every couple of days. Today after doing a water change i noticed that he was swimming round in circles whenever i put the syphon near him.Now hes swimming upright with his head up. He will not eat anything ive tried flake, frozen bloodworm. Is he going to die i have put him in a 1 g tank but have lowered the water level so he come up easier for air. Ive only had hm a couple of weeks and have become quite attached to him. Any help would be appreciated.

I would do a 100% water change, (with dechlorinator of course) add a little aquarium salt, keep the water level lower like you are and see if that helps. How long has it been since he's eaten? Has he been going to the bathroom?

Hasnt eaten for about a week, he seems a bit better now but still not his normal self. He has been a fussy eater ever since i got him 2 weeks ago. The only thing he will eat is frozen bloodworm tried him with a squished up pea but he wouldnt touch it what else could i try.

Hmmm...Could you get a hold of some daphnia, frozen baby brine shrimp, or you could even try some other veggies like cucumber, zucchini, lettuce. They also like chunks of banana. Are his fins clamped up at all?

Thanks for your help came home from work today and he had died.Couldnt see any obvious signs of illness on him. I guess he was old when i got him. At least i looked after him for the two weeks i had him even though he would only eat the odd frozen bloodworm. :rip: lil guy.

I am very sorry for your loss, at least you know you gave him a good life and he didn't have to die alone in a cup....RIP lil' fishy :rip:
