help. I dont know what to feed my frog

Hi. I've got a little frog which I wrote a quetion about a few days ago. I don't know what to feed it. I can't get to the lfs cause i live far away from one. I live in newzealand so don't have crickets etc.
My frog is a tree frog. It's only 1/2 inch long. what size bug can/will it eat. (measurement if poss cause i dont know the names of the bugs there are in america). Will it eat ants cause that's about the only thing I can get as it is winter here.
Please help cause I don't want it to starve to death. Thankyou very much. WIll it eat food from water? or only jumping/flying insects?

In desperation I just put a couple of really little garden spiders in the tank. Will my frog eat them?

Try going to the petstore and asking them what they would feed that frog. They may have some ideas.

I have nothing to offer you on the subject accept to tell you to maybe try to google it.

You probably didn't want to hear this but I would avoid feeding it anything like ants or spiders.....anything potentially venomous could kill....I think.

What kind of tree frog is it?

Also as a general rule (and i realise i am being a pain here) but you should really ensure that you can feed your animals before aquiring them.

If you dont have access to crickets (which are excellent feed for frogs in conjunction with other insects) you should try feeding them woodies, small cockroaches, moths etc. You may need to search long and hard around your place to find insects. Try setting up a large white sheet and shining a bright light on it and collecting what you can from the insects that are attracted.

You can get also canned foods from your lfs which may be a winner if you live far away from yours (you might need to have them ordered in) However it will be a challenge getting your frog to eat them, you need to gradually wean them from live insects to the canned stuff.

As well as insects you will also need to give your frog vitamin, mineral and calcium suppliments. See your lfs for more information in NZ, I am in Australia and dont know exactly what is available over there
