My friends housecat has escaped her parents house while she was visiting. She is quite timid and runs away scared alot. Any tips for trying to get her back? Unfortunately she runs away when you go near her or call her name as she is scared.

Same as my cat - who's 100% indoors with no road sense whatsoever :/
Thankfully he responds somewhat to a little container of crunchie biscuits (his favourite treat) - and can quite often be tempted with those. It does however require two people - one to shake the container and the other to prevent him from running into the street or further away. The only tone of voice that helps is gentle cooing ! Easier said than done I know, but succeeds within 15 minutes or so.

Luckily it doesn't happen too often - and usually only when we have visitors and they leave (or go outside of a cigarette) and forget about the cat :/

Hope your friend's cat comes home soon and safe :good:

Whatever you say when you're about to feed her often works. I have something I say to my two cats whenever I feed them, and if they get outside, they often at least miaow when I call dinner time for 'em, which helps me with their location.

Well Eboney is now back in the house as my friends dad managed to trap her. My friend would like to thank those of you which replied to this thread.
