help - we treated our tank with a medication for parasites as most of our fish seemed to be spending a great deal of time 'bouncing' off leaves & flicking off rocks & we thought they had some nasty beastie afflicting them............anyway after a bit of research bought & put the stuff in yesterday (methylene blue) & the tank water is still quite dark blue.(we checked we did get the dose right ( incl rock displacement of water etc.) dont think the fishies like it & they cant seem to see food etc.

how long before we can do a bit of a water change or stick on a carbon filter so we can see our fishies again in clear water???? we dont want to do it too early & make the stuff not work but the poor fish need torches or candles to see!!!!!!!!!!

B) Don't worry, even the correct dose of Methylene Blue turns the water a deep blue. I would leave it as it is for another 2 or 3 days before carrying out 25-30% water change. The water will still be blue, but it will gradually fade. As for the fish not seeing the food, I would'nt feed them until after you have finished the water change, and then build up the amount you feed gradually, as the methylene blue will have affected your filter - in fact it is worth considering using some sort of filter start/aid to help it along once the water is clearing.
Hope that helps

I don't mean this to come across as sarcastic but "do exactly what it says on the tin". Seriously, if you have added the correct dose, then leave it for the prescribed time required to treat whatever problem you have. If you start doing water changes before the med has run it's course then you are diluting it before it has had a chance to be most effective. Hope the problem clears up for you... :D
