I have had my 4 gold barbs for about 5 months now and yesterday inoticed on one of the barbs in between its eye and mouth there is around a 1mm blood blister. I thought it might go away but when i got home from work just now there is like a small 1mm white spike growing out of the center of the blood blister. it kinda looks like a pimple thing but is very unsightly.
i checked all water stats:

Ammonia:0
Nitrite:0
Ph: 7.2
Nitrate: 15-20
gh: 8
kh: 3

The other 3 barbs are sometimes scratching themselfs on the rocks.... I think it could be an internal parasite? i havent noticed anything on the other 3 barbs. Also my other fish appear to be fine. And none of my other fish are scratching.

Please help! what do i do?

Any chance he could have cut himself on something? Resulting in an infection in the skin?

What other fish do you have?

Any chance of photo?

Not being much help here, but only suggestions right now is a good water change and maybe add some melafix and see how it goes.

Are you treating for parasites.
Parasites can also cause bacterial infections.

thanks wilder and minxfishy for the replies, yesterday the "blister" appeared to be alot better, and when i got home tonight it has completly dissapeared, so i guess he just cut himself and it got infected.
lucky, i thought i might have a bacterial infection on my hands, ill keep a close eye on him tho.
thanks again guys

Thats good news, I would still keep a close eye on him.
Good luck.
