Hi All,

I am a scuba diver who loves looking for crustaceans when I dive so I have decided to set up a tropical crustaceans tank. Has anyone got and advise, names of species available and where to buy everything?

Hi Dex and welcome to the forum. :hi:

Are you looking to get into freshwater or saltwater inverts? The reason I ask is that you won't get many replies in this forum so I will move your thread to the appropriate invert section.

Go collect your own :)

I have been told fresh water tropical are easier to look after so I wanted to start here.

Trying to catch small crustaceans would be a nightmare as they hide in small cracks. I only take scallops, photos and treasure from the sea :)

The main crustaceans or invertibrates as they are also known for fresh water tanks are Shrimp, Crayfish and Snails. Some places do sell Mussels and Clams but they aren't as well suited to a fish tanks. There are some crabs available but most require brackish water (half way between salt and fresh) so can be a bit more effort.

I would recomend looking at the following websites: www.shrimpnow.com and http://www.shrimpcrabsandcrayfish.co.uk/ for more info on whats available.
