I have just set up a new Fluval 407 which is leaking from the bottom. Has anyone ever had this happen and has a fix for it? It’s definitely not coming from the top of the filter so isn’t a seal/ring problem

Has to be cracked, or damaged in some way to allow it to leak, if it's not coming from the seal at the head/canister assembly.

Thought so but I can’t see a crack anywhere grrrr. I’ll have to take it to be replaced

How bad is that leak ? Could it be condensation ?

If you wipe it dry and look at it for a while you should be able to find where it comes from.

Then a quick patch with epoxy glue should fix your problem.

It seems to be a teeny tiny leak so I can see the water building up in a certain 1cm square area but it’s not visible exactly where in that area it’s coming from. I would glue the whole area but given I can’t visibly see a crack or hole I don’t know if it would actually fill the crack/hole and fix the issue

Alright... Stop the pump dismount the filter put your media in a bucket with tank water.

Dry the case thoroughly. Sand with medium sand paper wash with alcohol and patch the whole area with a sufficient layer of 5 min epoxy.

Use an air dryer at low heat to make the epoxy bond quickly, So that your filter does not stay out of service too long.

You should be able to avoid returning the item under warranty that way.
