I had posted this in Tropical chit chat and didnt get much of a response and someone suggested I post here............

Our flying fox died this morning. My daughter was in tears at the loss of 'stripey'......Thats the 6th fish I have lost since Jan :-( :-( :-( All water parameters are fine. Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate ~20 (I have a heavily planted tank)

He looked poorly so I had put him into a hospital tank on Sunday. He was also flicking last week as if trying to get rid of an itch in his gills. The only visible symptoms yesterday were red marks where the fins meet the body and near the anus.

None of my fish have any salt like grains on their body. So probably not ich. I thought of internal parasites so had given a dose of Sterazin in Dec.

What could it be? Any help is appreciated... I dont want to lose any more fish....

:-( :-( :-( :-(

If all parametres are ok as you say then maybe its skin flukes which would cause fish to scrap and flick as you discribed but eventually kill the fish as it makes the gill filaments stick together like glue and the fish basically suffercates to death

Have you checked Ph?
When di d you do a water change last?

Rell gills and heavy breathing and flicking can be gill flukes, the red anus nothing is protruding out of it like a red worm is there.

No visible worms. I was hoping Sterazin would have killed off any parasites. Will it work for gill flukes?

PH has always been high around my place and varies from 7.5 - 7.8
