Help! Fire Eel Escape

I have kept eel for a few months now and have had no problem. But at the weekend I bought a new Fire Eel for my juwel 450, it is about 16 inches long and I woke up to find it on the floor!!!

At the moment I have place heavy books on the lid of the tank, it is far to big to get through any of the holes. I Know that it had been out for up to 2 hours or less.

What should I do? Will it live?

It is looking really unwell and is very close to the top of the water looking very ill. The tank is really tall it will have hurt itself from the fall.

Please help.

All you can do is treat the tank with some melafix and cross your fingers, sometimes they pull through sometimes they dont.

I am happy to say that he is still alive and is well on the way to full recovery.

Same thing happen to a buudy of mine but it died instead. Glad to hear the good news.
