My betta girls' been acting very strange and looking somewhat sick. she's not swimming very straightly, only going to the side silghtly.

Today I looked at her and her top fin was scrunched up and her other fins were slightly scrunched up. Also I noticed two red dots on top of her head and one on her spin just infront of her top fin.

We changed her water, thinking maybe that was it and she jumped clean out of her bowl for the first time. She hit the tground kinda hard and when we put her in she kind of sank to the bottom.

SHe's still alive. I checked on her a few minutes ago and she let out a few eggs. She'd been blowing up like a balloon because she was ready to lay eggs. She's a bit skinner now and swimming a bit shakingly but I'm still very worried. I don't know if the fall might have injured her and thats why she's letting out eggs or what. I've had her for about two months now and I don't want her to die or anything!

This is what I get in my disease file.
External Bacterial Infection
Symptoms: There are a great deal of possible symptoms associated with this disorder. There may be spots on the body which appear red or orange. Watch for red streaks on the surface on the body. Dropsy (bloating) is also a sign of a bacterial disorder. "False Fungal Infections" look like fungus but is actually a bacterial infection known as Columnaris. These symptoms may include a white or gray film on the body.

Treatment: There are a number of effective treatments for many stains of bacterial infections. Three of the most common are tetracycline, penicillin and naladixic acid. Salt baths are another effective treatment.

Information: Bacterial infections are often difficult to diagnose due to the many different types. Orange or red streaks on the body is usually the only fool-proof method for the determination of a bacterial infection.

There would be other meds to use as well. The fins clamping is a sign something is wrong. The red spots is a result of whatever is ailing her. Change her water daily, and medicate. Feed her well, and keep the temp as warm as you can...82-84 raise her temp slowly as to not stress her even more. Higher temps can help her immune system fight off anything else she might get from the stress. It is probably contagious, so wash anything you use in her water. 1/10 bleach to water .
