DSC01231.jpgMy Daughter's favourite angelfish "Pretty Colours" is breathing heavy and "her" stomach is bloated. I have an isolation tank (although quite small for her) and a fair stockpile of fish treatments - but my google searches are not helping me to dial it down. The other fish do not appear to be bloated and they are breathing normally. Tankmates include 3 other angelfish, 4 blue gourami and 2 pictus catfish.

She didn't eat when I fed the tank tonight.

(Please excuse the Canadian/British spelling : Colours/Favourite.)

The bulging stomach is more apparent toward the end of the video when the fish swam up to get a better look at what I was pointing at it.

Thanks

You dont have to appologise for your spelling, the English way is the correct way anyway ;)

How old is the fish, how old is the tank? When was the last water change? What are your water readings? Cant really help without more info really.

Yes, water stats would be helpful to make sure that's not the problem.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

I wouldn't feed her at the moment, she may have been overfed and have a blockage...

Make sure you check all your water levels like pH etc and that the water is clean.

I don't know how old the fish is, but we have had her around 6 months. She has grown a little in that time, but I can't say that I recall exactly how big she was when we bought - her. She is currently around 5 1/2 to 6 inches from tail tip to nose.

The last water change/cleaning was about 4 days ago - about 15%. She isn't typically sensitive to environmental changes.

Temperature is 27C 81F. PH is around 7.6-7.7 (normal for london, ontario). Ammonia test looks like 0 or pretty close to zero.

Typically when we overfeed all of the goldfish stomachs will bulge a little. In this case, it is only the one. Is it possible that she had the blockage for a couple of days and we didn't notice. Should I then isolate her and feed her peas?

Thanks

I was only spitballing with my suggestion. If you were to do that, I'd probably isolate her in the same tank so she doesn't have to try and adapt to a new surrounding/water levels while she's not well. Do you have something you can fence off an area of the tank with or something like that?

I don't have a divider. I will pick up something like a breeder net today.
