Just wanted to do a quick intro before jumping in...
I'm Stacey, and consider myself an "educated newbie". Until a couple months ago my fishkeeping experience was limited to a Betta, who lived in an uncycled bowl with me for about 2 1/2 years. After he died, I decided I wanted to do a "real" tank, but I read about it and tossed around ideas for a long time before taking the plunge.
In the past couple months I have gone from "fishless" to 6 tanks and 5 Betta bowls. Here's the current breakdown:
5 gallon Hex - 1 male betta (crown tail), 1 otocinclus
5 gallon Hex - 2 African Dwarf Frogs
5 gallon Bow - QT tank - 1 pregnant female guppy that snuck in without my permission, 1 ghost shrimp and 1 otocinclus who will be moving in with the frogs in a week or so. Soon to be many baby gupps.
10 gallon - 5 male guppies, 1 killer ghost shrimp (used to be 4)
3 gallon Bow - 1 male betta (Green/Red HM Butterfly from BettaTalk - he's SO pretty!)
20 gallon - currently 4 corydoras mellini. This will eventually house the next 5 as well:
3 x 1.25 gallon bowls - 3 female bettas, also from BettaTalk (Red/Green HM BF, Ivory and Red HM BF, tiny Gold/Red BF - all beautiful!)
2 x .75 gallon vases - 2 female bettas, WalMart finds (Mustard Gas - with black edge on fins and a dark Multicolor - gorgeous!)
So I have a slight case of MTS! So far 4 of the tanks are cycled and running smooth. Had an incident setting up the 20 gallon and lost 1 cory, but that's been my only fish fatality so far. I'm in the process of cycling the 20 and the 3 gallon, and will be attempting a female betta community tank as soon as the girls are out of their QT bowls!
Looking forward to chatting with y'all soon! I come with many fish, many tanks and many questions!
