Hello beta fish Mom here. He’s not doing too well right now though. I think he might be stessed and chilly. Still no name yet but love him just the same. Feel free to give suggestions.
Thank you for having me,:)View attachment 168878

Thank you. I just happened to stumble upon it while I was looking up what my be wrong with my beta and everyone seemed so supportive. Even when I read one that didn’t even have to do with the fish somebody was stressed out and everybody replied and tried to help this person and gave them so much good advice and was so nice. On top of that there was so much information that was so helpful For myself to take care of my Betta. So I wanted to thank you all. I’ve been on this for about three hours reading so much good information. Example how to filter out my 10 gallon tank. Everybody told me to do it a different way. Also about the levels. I do bring the water in a little jar to the pet store to get it checked but all my family and friends have different opinions. So it’s nice to actually read it from you guys somebody neutral. 🙂🐟

Be certain to read all you can on cycling your tank, if you haven't already...it's crucial for the health of your betta

Thank you. I definitely have to do it today after I pick my kids up from school. If you notice in the pictures… Which Is the reason I put so many sorry… His color and skills seem like they’re almost being scratched off by his tail, and on his nose by his mouth he has a few white dots. I thought it was fungus, Ich, A parasite, or something like that, which of course it still could be but I realized it’s very cold in my apartment and that tank water is chilly even though I do have a heater in it it’s not warming up as much as it should. And one of the decor‘s that I had on the table next to his tank unfortunately I realized he kept getting angry on that side of the tank and apparently he could see his reflection. There were many factors that were stressing him out. Also I do though have a plant in there that does look like it has fungus on it so I would like to Definitely do that tonight just in case and hopefully cat something else to keep more warm. Crossing my fingers that I’m doing the correct thing and she will get better and not worse. The poor thing doesn’t even have a name yet. I added the pictures of the plant that I think has the fungus. I should probably take it out I think3763DD9D-627D-4817-8294-587717ED2E0B.jpegB8E5FC9A-2F80-4DBA-8D1C-BA8281DEE571.jpeg

Hi and welcome to our forum... :hi:
Tbh, from these photos I don't really see anything that I would be worried about...
Maybe it's stress he's dealing with...

Hello beta fish Mom here. He’s not doing too well right now though. I think he might be stessed and chilly. Still no name yet but love him just the same. Feel free to give suggestions.
Betta will drop to the bottom and hide if it's cold, I'd keep the temp between 22C (72F) - 25C (77F).
The next thing I'd do is check for Ich, the white spots on the body. I can't see the spots in the photo though. If you apply Ich treatment, make sure to remove carbon filtration from the tank.
It also looks like you have a large filter in the tank, betta doesn't like high flow current.
And having a cycled tank is important, particularly if there are many fish in the tank.

Thank you both so very much for your in input and information. I did cycle the tank and also realize that that “ fake” log he was hiding in and swinging past had very sharp edges ( too many to file down) so I switched that out for something more appropriate. That was probably why his fins and scales were getting scratched up. Since the cycle and “ no more sharp items. He was doing well. I do think I need to get a new heater. It’s just not heating up the 10 gallon tank as well as it should. Also my apartment has definitely been much colder so that could be affected as well. Since the tank has not been as warm as it should he has not been eating unfortunately.
Most of the time He swim is against the wall where the heater is. But I do catch him swimming around and making bubbles. But it does worry mean that he is not eating. Also he does have the white dots on his face which I wonder if it is ich. I look back at previous photos from when I first got him and unfortunately he did have the same dots right around his nose so unfortunately I should have checked him out more before I got him. Still not sure if that’s what it is or if that’s just how he was born.
Sorry this is so long. We did finally come up with a name. His name is Loki.
I am attaching a few pictures some of I have circled the dots that I am worried about.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this and write back.
Welcome! Beautiful betta kid right there!
thank you 😊. He really is so small. I wonder how old he is. If he’s on the younger side or if he’s just on the smaller side. He really is beautiful thank you so much

Bettas don't generally make bubbles unless they're happy, but then you say the fish is not eating. So I'm not sure what the problem is.
I can't tell what the dots on the fish are, but if you google "Ich" and look at the images, you'll know what to look out for.
If a betta keeps coming to water surface to breathe, you have a problem with the water. It could also be an indication that the water is not well oxygenated.
It may be worthwhile to get a thermometre to check the temperature of the water. You may also consider reducing the volume of water in the tank so that your heater has a chance to heat it up.
All the best with Loki. Hope he'll be happy.

Good news!! I went to my local fish store today and talk to the owner. I let her know how Loki has not been eating. She gave me a bag of brine. She said if he does not eat this then there definitely is another problem. The good news is he gobbled them up and loved him! So he just does not like his food. Now I have to figure out what I am going to feed him on a daily basis and what it is he is going to like. Because he does not like the pellets at all.
He was so happy and had his pep in his step again or swim in his fin again lol

I once had a betta which refused to eat pellets. But I discovered it was only hard pellets he wouldn't eat. If I soaked them in a bit of tank water until they went soft, he ate them straight away. This may not work with your betta but it is something to try and see.
