My names James. This is my first time ever on a fish forum. I was told by my cousin to check one out and post some things to get to know some of y’all. I just got a freshwater tank of my own. I’ve had it for about 7 months now. It’s a 30 gallon tank with a few different tropical fish. I’ve had a few mistakes since first starting and I would like to avoid any further complications. As of now everything seems okay, but maybe there’s stuff I’m completely missing. I’m sure there is lol.
Anyway I attached my photo of the tank here. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

Happy day and welcome aboard! Thank you for sharing the pictures. I've often said that my fish have a wrathful god, so don't you worry one bit about the mistakes you make, you'll learn from each and every one of them. On balance, I would say that my mistakes come from:
1. Rushing
2. Not paying attention to what I was doing
3. Listening to the college kid at your local fish store (LFS) instead of obtaining a blended approach that forums offer

Anyway, its a wonderful hobby and you're going to have fun!

Welcome to the forum. That's a great tank size & looking good too. My advice would be to switch out artificial plants for real plants. It'll enhance the look of the tank but also water quality too & fish will prefer them :)

I will definitely look into more real plants. Only have one at the moment. Thank you
