Hello I live in cold snowy Canada, and I recently bought my first tank a 30 gallon, and thought it would be as easy as bringing it home adding water and fish and voila!  Boy was I ever wrong, i feel like a chemist, biologist, and zoologist all in one.  I'm messing up my first setup which brought me here and hope to get a handle on this and start a salt water tank in the coming year.

BTW in my opinion salt water tank setups is more expensive and also is much harder to maintain than freshwater tanks, so be warned.
I've been doing FW for a little while now and nowhere near ready yet for that leap to salt water/marine setups.
Stick with FW for now and learn as much as you can and gather knowledge about saltwater while you go along with FW.
Thats what I'm trying to do as well!
