Hi Hi

I am new and i just thought id introduce myself.

Ive got a few little questions

Im moving soon, and looking to replace my marine tank i have atm (its crap and you'd all probably kill me if you knew what it was like, but im a noob and looking to move on)

Im only going to have about £150 to spend on the tank itself, and was wondering if you could all point me in the right direction. Firstly maybe to a nice little setup to house my pair of percula clowns. Id like something pretty simple and basic, and easy/ier to maintain.

Thanks

Hi - I'm new at the marine game so don't have any experience to fall back on; my first tank has only been cycling for one week!

I bought an ORCA tl 450 58litre 'all-in-one' nano tank with stand for £135. £150 isn't going to buy you anything else.

Some people dislike the whole nano thing and give negative reviews and advice, others like them.

You are limited to what fish you can put in them, basically 3 at max from a very small choice - small clowns, Gobies and a few others are about it. I don't think this tank is suitable for percula clowns though!

It all depends on how much money you have to not only buy the tank but buy the LR to go in it and of course how much room the missus will let you have for your tank.

i think the d & d nano is now about £150 since theyve brought out the new one. its 28us gallons i believe.

Im going to suggest something else (though both the orca and D&D tanks are fairly nice). Have a look in your local papers, ebay, and online for aquatic classified sites. Also take a look at sites like freecycle. You can pick up some amazing bargains. Just make sure that you see the tank filled with water and there are no cracks in it.

Personally I would go for the biggest tank you can possible get. Easier to look after and gives you a lot more stocking options.

Agree with Barney. Tanks (especially smaller ones) last decades. I have a 45g in my basement that's been relegated to water storage which is 18 years old and a 10g tank which is now a sump which is 20 years old. As such, I don't purchase tanks bigger than 10g anymore new. Way cheaper to get them second hand :)

I have a 35G atm, and because of the move im wishing to downsize so somthing around the 25 -30G mark would be ace!

I dont know if i want my LR anymore, im only planning on keeping 1 piece of it, and selling the rest. FO is what i was hoping for, is it possible?

I only plan on getting one or 2 more fish so i dont have any major stocking plans, was thinking my 2 clowns and a goby or blenny, and thats it some shrimps and stuff mayb.

Oh and also i am the Misses =P :*
