Just thought I'd say hi! Just about to join in the fish keeping sensation. Have set up a 60 Li tropical tank and will be getting the first few fish and a java fern to join in on Sunday!

Also have long term plans to have a very very large custom tank built in an "L" shape. Can anyone recommend a company who construct them? (in the UK preferably :p)

I hope you know what you're getting into, it starts with a small tank and a couple fish, then you end up with too many fish so you have to upgrade, but you end up keeping the smaller tank "just in case", fortunately it's still set up by the time your new tank is over-crowded so you can house some fish in it temporarily until your L-shaped tank is done (which by now is becoming more and more urgent). Just ask my wife, she didn't really have much interest until I got my new tank, now it's practically hers, she's naming all the fish even! If it were up to me I would trade most of my furniture for fish tanks! It's out of control!

Oh btw...welcome to the club Lance.

hey man
what kind of fish are you planning on getting?

For the small tank guppies, mollies, swordtail and a couple of catfish I thought would work well - they all prefer alkali water (except the catfish which adapt) and are hardy.

For the large tank (Just calculated it would be about 1400Li approx 300 Gallons) Angels, some ruby sharks, and loads of tetras - probably more as well since you could easily get 500 fish in that one haha. This one would be a soft water/acidic tank. Oh and some more catfish too yay!
