Hello! my name is patrick im 19 and i have been in the fish hobby since i was 14! I havent kept many different types of fish, and i dont have many aquariums currently (i only have a 10 gallon at the moment due to space issues).
I started like most people with betta fish! I have a soft spot for female betta fish specifically. I have kept alot of betta fish (separate dont worry) but my current favorite fish are platys.
I got into fish keeping because my older brother bred mollies when i was younger, and had alot of really pretty naturally planted tanks and the fish were very sweet and comforting to me.
I would love to have mollies and raise them myself but currently do not have room for a 20g or larger.

Heres sort of a list of fish iv kept (or tried to keep) before!
-bettafish
-honey gouramis (one of my favorites, but didnt have them long sadly)
-Dwarf gouramis (the breeder i got them from sold me ones w worms though which really sucked)
-Neon tetras
-platys
-Mollies
-guppies

Since i have a 10 g right now im planning on getting some guppies, although all the pet stores in my local area seem to be out of fish due to all the quarantine stuff so its been difficult.

I would like to learn more about water quality honestly because its never really sticked with me entirely, I am autistic and sometimes have a hard time absorbing information so please be gentle w me if i dont understand something that you think is easy to understand or common sense.

Welcome :hi: you'll learn loads here. Lots on hand to answer queries. I know nothing. Just here to drool over fancy tanks.

Welcome Patrick.

I hope you'll enjoy it here - it's a friendly forum and everyone is really helpful. We all look after each other on here, and there is a lot of expertise if you need advice or have any problems.

Hi and welcome to the forum! :hi:

It's great that you're wanting to learn more about water quality, understanding the nitrogen cycle is a key part of the hobby, and makes things a lot easier for you :)

I just shared this video with someone else too, so have the link handy. This is the best video I've found explaining the nitrogen cycle, I hope you find it as useful as I did!
