Hello,some Piccies & A Question...

Hola!

Not been into the salty side for long at all, only inherited some water, sand, skimmer, external filter and a coupla fish on 9th Mar when I bought a Juwel Rio 300 off ebay as a bigger "home" for my mbunas...the tank was "minging" and the fish werent fab either.

But always fancied giving this a go ( as you do ) so stuck as many ltrs of the water in a spare tank I had lying around as I could ( losing one 30 ltr bucket ALL over my room ..that smelt NICE !!! )

Tank is 150 ltrs, weekly 10% water change, and taking it pretty slow!

So far have...added 15kgs of (mostly fiji) live rock..junked the garbage seaclone skimmer for a V2 800..emptied the external of all but carbon and rowaphos...added flow x3 MJ1200 maxijets (3300lph+ about 400 from external filter)...built up my CUC (about 18 snails, 5 red legs a cleaner shrimp and a dancer shrimp) and only added 3 fish! Fish are 2 x clowns+ 1 x blue damsel that I "inherited" + 2xgreen chromis & 1 one firefish. Oh yep, and 1 little zoo...

So here's a coupla pics with a question at the end...








And so the question...what is the "blokes bit" sticking out my rock in the last pic..it grows and shrinks just like a !%*£ and stuff??

Heh, yeah I can't place that last thing either . Your "dancing shrimp" is actually whats commonly known as a Camel Shrimp

Hi,
I t may be some king of sponge. I have one in my tank slightly similar. It gorws and shrinks when abasorbs the water and then when it pushjes it out.
I' d be wary about the camel shrimp they like to nibble on soft ocrals. I had one and it ate 2 of my mushrooms.

i WILL! find out more about by rock mans "thing" and will post an update...

Camel shrimpy is on a trial ...if he starts to be a pain then he goes back to my LFS...or maybe he would be an excuse for a nano nano...
