Hi All,

Read this forum for quite a while so I thought its time to join and say hello.

My current setup
20210201.jpg

Excuse the dirty glass.
54 ltr tank
External filter
Internal heater (soon to be changed for inline)
LED light
Auto feeder for when I am not about

Stock is
15 neon tetra
15 ember tetra
5 black neon tetra
8 female guppies (got from a friend)
Neocardina shrimp. (No idea how many. They breed fast)
Rams horn snails.

Tank has been running for 7 months (ish)
I monitor PH and TDS daily and use a Amonia/nitrite/nitrate tester every week.
Everything seems stable.
I still water change every week by about 40%

Hello and welcome to the forum! :hi:

Beautiful tank! I love the foreground plants.

Beautiful tank. I am also curious about the foreground plants. What are they? I would like to put them in my tank.

Welcome to the forum :fish: :hi: :fish: Really like your tank, I also have a tetra tank. Neon, amber and glow light tetras along with cory. The embers are my favorite since they shoal so nicely.

I have no idea if I am honest. Bought a mixed budle from Ebay when I started. I got 5 stems. As you can see it grows well. Grows tall if you let it. I just trim and replant to fill the space. I now have loads in this tank and some in my crayfish tank.

I will have a look for the sellar on ebay and find out if I can.

Alternatly if you are in the UK I could always send you a few stems next time I trim?

The Embers do seem to shoal better than the neons. Although the blacks seem to shoal really well to. I am considering adding another 10 blacks soon. Worried about over stocking. So may take the guppies out into a seperate tank. I have a load of guppy fry in with the crayfish as they are to small for him to care about. So got to get another tank soon for a guppy only tank.

I also have a guppy tank, I keep the tetras in a soft water 55 gallon tank and my guppies in a 30 gallon hard water tank. I also have lots of guppy fry, they breed like rabbits. I wish I could get my tetra to have fry.

I have reviewed the plants you have listed. I believe the foreground plant is one of the three Hygrophilia species you have listed:
  • Hygrophilia polysperma (likely invasive)
  • Hygrophilia corymbosa (Cherry Leaf Stricta)
  • Hygrophilia salicifolia (Blue Stricta - this one is a bit questionable in regards to id - could be invasive)
I believe the most likely one is Hygrophila polysperma simply because it seems to fit with the growth form seen in the photograph more. The one issue with considering the polysperma is that the leaves seem to be arranged oppositely on each node of the stem and it is difficult to see that detail in your picture, also I don't know of opposite vs alternate is an identifying feature for the genus. Hygrophilia corymbosa, is also a possibility but if the variety is truly Cherry Leaf Stricta then it is unlikely because that variety has broader leaves from what I can tell, there a few varieties of this genus. The Hygrophilias in general seem to be well represented as aquatic plants for aquariums.

The plant is pretty, and if it is the one I think it is, it is easy to grow. Unfortunately I am trying hard to keep the plants in my tank to ones from South America and all the Hygrophilias seem to be from Asia.

Thanks for sharing the list, and the photo of your aquarium.
