Hi! New to the forum, new to the hobby. It all started with my 7 yo son catching 3 tiny snails in the creek. Now we have a thriving snail nursery plus 2 amano shrimp in the tall jar. My son asked for an aquarium for Christmas, so he got an 8 gallon starter tank. It has 4 sunburst platies, 2 speckled platies, 3 ember tetra, blue mystery snail, 2 nerites, and a ghost shrimp friend. Happy to be here, grateful to learn from y’all!

That’s how it starts . A kid gets a living thing to care for and it goes from there . That’s what happened to me and another guy I know . Sixty years later I’m still taking care of fish and that other guy went to his grave doing it . Encourage your boy , this may be a lifelong thing with him . Welcome to our merry little band of fish nuts .
